Front Doors

There are several doors that the board has recently approved for use. Unit 76 installed a new door that was purchased at Lowe's in Burbank. Doors that are currently approved can be seen here.

Homeowners are required to paint their doors
to the approved colors of their buildings.

Front Patios

The area under the overhang of the front patio may be decorated by the owner in a tasteful manner using plants and outdoor garden furniture/ornaments. The area outside of the overhang is not to be altered without board approval.

The following may not be placed or altered on the front patio.  This is not an exclusive list and the board reserves the right to add to this list.

  • Painting the walls
  • Using a metal screen door that is painted in any color other than black.
  • Replacing the front door with a non approved door.  (See above)
  • Placing indoor furniture on the porch.
  • Hanging a hammock on the porch.
  • Hanging pictures or paintings on the outside walls.
  • Using plastic nursery pots not intended for decorative use.
  • Placing items in the pathway to the front door that would be deemed a trip and fall hazard.
  • Placing items or using fixtures (indoor electrical items) that would create a fire or electrical hazard

Windows

The approved windows and sliding doors may be purchased at Simi Valley Glass and Mirror, their telephone number is 805-526-8099. The approved windows are manufactured by Milgard. The frames are Aluminum in a bronze color. It is recommended that you purchase dual pane Suncoat glass to keep out noise, heat and cold.  The DWP may give you an energy rebate for using approved weather proofing windows.

Garage Doors

Garage doors may be purchased from Mesa Garage Doors. Their telephone number is 800-893-1107. Tell them that you are a resident of Sunkist Villas HOA in Sun Valley, California.

  • Garage door must be almond color.
  • Two air vents are required near the bottom of the door.
  • The door can not have windows

When replacing the door, we recommend that you also replace the door opener if it is more than 10 years old. If you have the original Stanley Vemco door opener (it has a chain that runs along a 2" pipe), then you should definitely replace it. You can buy a new door opener at Home Depot or Lowe's on your own and have Mesa install it for you.
